Mr and Mrs

Just a quickie - a set of 'Mr' and 'Mrs' cups I painted in squidgy, thick black, wiggly letters as a wedding gift for my lovely friend Gemma and new husband Peter. Your wedding was beautiful, big congratulations! x

Doodlecaff #2

Name: The Wild Strawberry Coffee Shop
Location: Keswick
USP: Is beautiful
Ate: Buttered toasted teacake
Drank: Milky English Breakfast
Doodled: Hipster owl

Had a lovely rest from walking round rainy hills in my wellies at this very pretty coffee shop. It smells fantastic inside.

You can't get moved for Kendal Mint Cake all over the Lakes and the packaging is brilliant, old fashioned and funnily enough, really contemporary at the same time. I overdosed on it as a child so can't entertain the idea of eating any but bought some anyway purely because I love the hot pink and black design.

Ouseburn Open Studios 2012

Not long to go before OOS is here! I love this event. Over 200 Artists and creative venues in Newcastle upon Tyne throw open their doors to the public and you can go down, see them in their studios, chat about their work and buy some, if you like. There's often a chance to do things you wouldn't normally too with workshops and demonstrations, I've printed with Lee Turner of Hole Editions and eaten neon cake with glass artist Sarah Blood at Lime Street Studios, screenprinted on fabric at Northern Print and had a most excellent vintage style photo taken at Mushroom Works amongst others.

Glass artist Sarah Blood on the left giving a demonstration with her fantastic neon flying ducks in the background.

I'll be based at Mushroom Works as usual this year, and I'll have some paintings and drawings for sale in our famous 20x20 show - original artworks in a wide variety of styles measuring 20 cms square, for only £20. Yes, original art by professional artists, for only 20 quid, total bargain. They also make great christmas presents. Check out the links for more info.

Doodlecaff #1

I am a massive fan of cafes. And coffee. And tea. And cake etc. etc. And also doodling.

Sometimes I like to venture out from my studio and emerge blinking, into the daylight to take my sketchbook for a walk to one of the many lovely cafes in the North-East. Or sometimes the park. Or the pub.

Anyway, I've decided to tell you about them in a vaguely Top Trumps style.

Name: Coffeeholics
Location: Heaton
USP: Has an outdoor loo. Yes really.
Ate: Chicken/pesto/sundried tomato panini, side salad
Drank: Milky English Breakfast
Doodled: Vintage teacup

Octopus Ink Revistited

Cast your mind back to roughly this time last year - remember the octopus tattoo I designed? Well the client sent me a photo of the now-finished tattoo. The photo is a closeup of the inner arm in front of my original drawing. Have a look-see.
